DoD Transportation Modes

The Department of Defense will continue to support the familiar DoD transportation mode/method codes within DoD logistics systems. This conversion table must be used to translate the DoD code values into valid ANSI ASC X12 code values for transmission. The sender and the receiver must employ the conversion table so that the internal DoD user or Federal/Civil Agency user under FEDSTRIP sees only the familiar DoD code values. The ANSI ASC X12 code values listed below are assigned under ANSI ASC X12 Data Element 91, Transportation Method/Type Code.
