The MAX Federal Community is a comprehensive collaboration, information sharing, document management, and knowledge management capability.MAX is not an acronym. It comes from the name of the original initiative, Maximum 2000 (shortened to MAX), approved by Congress in 1988 to modernize the federal budgeting process. The Budget Officers Advisory Council (BOAC) and OMB identified a pressing need for collaboration and information sharing within the budget world. The original site, called MAX Budget Community, evolved to MAX Federal Community where users can securely share information within their own agencies, and with non-federal partners.
