AF ILS-S Asset Inventory Information

ILS-S (Integrated Logistics System – Supply) is the Air Force's family of base-level (retail) supply systems, supporting requisitioning, receiving, and asset/inventory management for the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard. It is operated as an authenticated Air Force enterprise application at ils-s.cce.af.mil and requires a CAC or ECA certificate to sign in.

What it is

ILS-S is the Air Force's base-level supply system family, providing the retail (as opposed to wholesale depot-level) supply chain functions that support day-to-day and wartime flying-mission logistics. Public reporting describes it supporting roughly 260 sites and more than 15,000 users worldwide. The legacy Standard Base Supply System (SBSS) is a back-end component within ILS-S, historically running on Unisys mainframes in COBOL; the Air Force has modernized this component (a "code roll" to a Java-based, open IT platform).

ILS-S has also absorbed wholesale-adjacent functionality for specific communities: in 2022, AFLCMC's ILS-S Program Management Office, working with the Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division (CCSD), migrated roughly 284,000 cryptologic assets into ILS-S and began production use on July 26, 2022, consolidating item management and repair/storage tracking for those assets into the ILS-S application.

Who operates it

ILS-S is an Air Force system. Program management is associated with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), through the ILS-S Program Management Office.

Access

ILS-S, including the Asset Inventory Information / Enterprise Self Service (ESS) pages at ils-s.cce.af.mil, is gated behind Air Force single sign-on and requires a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) or an External Certification Authority (ECA) certificate to authenticate; the system is accredited to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This does not match the "public" access type currently on file — the directory record should be corrected to reflect CAC-gated access. Authorized users without an existing account can self-register through the ILS-S mobility customer self-registration page; ECA certificate holders who need a manually created account are directed to contact the Air Force help desk with their certificate subject information.

How logisticians use it

Air Force supply personnel use ILS-S for base-level supply operations: requisitioning, receiving, inventory and asset management, and issuing supplies and equipment in support of flying missions. The "Asset Inventory Information" capability specifically gives visibility into on-hand assets and inventory positions at the unit/base level.
