CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation

The CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation no longer exists as a separate organization: on December 31, 2023, it merged with the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association to form the Navy Seabee Foundation, which now carries on both organizations' missions. The former seabeehf.org web address now redirects to the merged foundation's site, seabee.org.

What it is

The Navy Seabee Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the U.S. Navy Seabees (Naval Construction Force) and the Navy's Civil Engineer Corps (CEC), awarding scholarships to family members of those who served with the Seabee/CEC community, and supporting the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum and other heritage sites. It is a heritage and family-support organization, not an operational logistics system or reference tool.

Who operates it

The Navy Seabee Foundation is a private non-profit, formed by the December 2023 merger of the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation (founded 1991) and the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (founded 1970). It is headquartered in Springfield, Virginia, with an office at the Seabee Heritage Center in Gulfport, Mississippi — the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation's original home. It is not a government agency, though it works closely with the Navy's Seabee/CEC community and the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum.

The foundation's website (seabee.org) is publicly accessible with no login or CAC requirement. Scholarship applications, event registration, and donation forms are handled through the public site; there is no general membership-account system.

History & lineage

The CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation was established in 1991 to preserve Seabee and Civil Engineer Corps history. On December 2, 2023, its board and the board of the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (est. 1970) signed a merger agreement, effective December 31, 2023, creating the Navy Seabee Foundation. RADM Kevin Slates, CEC, USN (Ret.), and RDML Lou Cariello, CEC, USN (Ret.), serve as chair and vice chair of the combined foundation, with Dan Miller continuing as executive director.
