Exchange Online Shopping (shopmyexchange.com) is the e-commerce site of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES, "the Exchange"), the joint Army/Air Force nonappropriated-fund retailer that supports the military community worldwide. It offers tax-free, military-priced shopping to authorized patrons — active duty, Guard/Reserve, retirees, and eligible family members — and, since 2017, to honorably discharged veterans through a dedicated online-only benefit. Proceeds fund military Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs rather than a general treasury.

What it is

Shopmyexchange.com is AAFES's online retail storefront, selling consumer goods (electronics, apparel, home goods, and more) at tax-free, military-community pricing, alongside the Exchange's brick-and-mortar stores on installations. It also supports the Military Star credit card program. Online shopping privileges exclude alcohol, tobacco, and military uniforms for most patron categories.

Who operates it

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), a joint nonappropriated-fund instrumentality of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. AAFES is a retail and quality-of-life organization, not a logistics or supply-chain system — it is included here as an adjacent resource frequently referenced alongside other DoD community-support benefits.

Access

The public-facing site is reachable by anyone, but placing an order requires verified eligibility. Authorized patrons (active duty, Reserve/Guard, retirees, Medal of Honor and Purple Heart recipients, certain disabled veterans, and eligible dependents) shop with full or limited privileges depending on category. Separately, honorably discharged veterans of any U.S. armed force (including Reserve and National Guard components) can register for the online-only Veterans Online Shopping Benefit at shopmyexchange.com; this benefit does not grant access to physical installations or stores. Registration verifies identity and service history through the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) via the VetVerify process, using name, date of birth, and the last four digits of a Social Security number; review can take up to three business days.

How logisticians use it

This is a retail/quality-of-life benefit rather than a materiel-logistics tool. Logisticians may encounter it in the context of morale and welfare support during deployments, PCS moves, or troop support operations, or when helping service members and veterans understand exchange privileges — but it does not perform supply, inventory, or asset-tracking functions relevant to the logistics mission.

Related systems

Related to other military community-support and quality-of-life benefits, including the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) and installation MWR programs, and to DEERS-based eligibility verification used across DoD benefit systems.
