FedBizOpps (FBO, fbo.gov) was the federal government's single government point-of-entry (GPE) for procurement opportunities over $25,000. It was decommissioned in November 2019 and its functions were consolidated into SAM.gov, where "Contract Opportunities" is now the official public source for federal solicitations. The old fbo.gov URL currently 301-redirects into the sam.gov domain; this entry should function as a retirement notice pointing users to SAM.gov.

What it was

FedBizOpps listed federal pre-solicitation, solicitation, award, and sole-source notices so businesses could find and respond to government contracting opportunities. It served as the government-wide point of entry for procurement notices above the $25,000 simplified-acquisition threshold.

Who operates the successor

SAM.gov (System for Award Management), including its Contract Opportunities module, is operated by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as part of the Integrated Award Environment (IAE) — the same GSA program that ran FedBizOpps.

Access

FBO.gov is retired; visiting the old URL redirects into the sam.gov domain. SAM.gov Contract Opportunities is publicly accessible — anyone can search notices without an account. An account (SAM.gov entity registration) is required to register as a business doing work with the federal government, but is not required to browse or search opportunities.

How logisticians use it (now)

Use SAM.gov Contract Opportunities to search and monitor federal solicitations, pre-solicitation notices, and award notices. Entity/vendor registration and CAGE code management are also handled through SAM.gov. Support issues go through the Federal Service Desk (FSD), the help desk for SAM.gov and related GSA acquisition systems.
