FEDRooms

FedRooms is the U.S. government's official negotiated-rate hotel program for federal and military travelers on official business, administered by the General Services Administration (GSA). The old public-facing fedrooms.com website was shut down in 2024; the program itself continues, and travelers now access FedRooms rates only through approved federal travel-booking tools, not a standalone consumer site.

What it is

FedRooms provides Federal Travel Regulation (FTR)-compliant hotel accommodations at or below the applicable per-diem rate, with standardized traveler-friendly terms (no additional mandatory fees, no minimum-stay requirements, same-day cancellation), at thousands of participating hotel properties nationwide and in select overseas markets. It is one of GSA's government-wide temporary-duty (TDY) travel programs, alongside per-diem rate setting and preferred/city-pair travel arrangements.

Who operates it

GSA owns and administers the FedRooms program as policy. Day-to-day program management — hotel sourcing and rate negotiation, data management, and reporting — is carried out by a GSA travel-management contractor.

Access

There is no public FedRooms booking website. The contractor-run fedrooms.com site was retired on September 30, 2024, to comply with governmentwide policy limiting official federal websites to .gov domains and Federal Travel Regulation requirements that TDY travel use only approved booking tools. Federal travelers now get FedRooms rates by selecting the FedRooms option inside an agency-approved booking channel — the Defense Travel System (DTS), E2 Solutions, SAP ConcurGov, or by asking an agency's travel management company (TMC) for the FedRooms rate — rather than by visiting a dedicated site directly. Program information for the public is published on GSA's own site at gsa.gov/travel/plan-a-trip/lodging/fedrooms. FedRooms is not available for personal/leisure travel; travelers seeking a government-style discount for personal trips must ask individual hotels directly, at the hotel's discretion.

How logisticians use it

FedRooms is a TDY/official-travel resource, not a materiel- or supply-chain logistics tool. Logisticians and other federal/military travelers rely on it when arranging per-diem-compliant lodging for temporary duty travel, ensuring hotel costs stay within FTR limits and travel-voucher reconciliation goes smoothly. Because access now runs entirely through an agency's existing booking tool (DTS, E2 Solutions, ConcurGov) rather than a separate FedRooms account, there is no independent FedRooms login or registration step for the traveler.
