LMARS

LMARS/CWT (Logistics Metrics Analysis Reporting System / Customer Wait Time) is a Defense Logistics Agency reporting capability, hosted at DLA Transaction Services (the Defense Automatic Addressing System, DAAS), that tracks materiel as it moves through the DoD wholesale logistics pipeline. It measures Logistics Response Time (LRT) and Customer Wait Time (CWT) — the elapsed time from a customer's requisition submission to receipt of the ordered materiel — broken into 12 distinct pipeline segments defined by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Logistics. Access is through the DAAS applications portal and requires an approved system access request.

What it is

LMARS is populated from MILSTRIP and MILSTRAP transactions flowing through DLA Transaction Services, giving it a single authoritative source of pipeline performance and customer-wait-time data for wholesale supply items. The system has maintained data since its inception in February 1997, and standard reports are generated monthly. Tracked segments include requisition submission, service processing, initial source-of-supply processing, storage/warehouse activity, transportation, containerization, domestic and international transit, port processing, and receipt documentation — the 12 nodes of the logistics pipeline.

Who operates it

LMARS/CWT is operated by DLA Transaction Services, part of Defense Logistics Agency Information Operations (J6). DLA Transaction Services and the Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) refer to the same organization/platform; both names are in current official use.

Access

LMARS is reached through the DAAS applications portal (portal.daas.dla.mil), which is CAC/PKI-gated. New users request access via the DAAS System Access Request (SAR) process at home.daas.dla.mil/sar/. The directory's stored access value of "public" does not match this — LMARS requires an approved account/role, not open public access.

How logisticians use it

Analysts, program managers, and logistics-readiness staff use LMARS/CWT to measure customer wait time and pipeline segment performance for wholesale items, identify which segment of the 12-node pipeline is driving delays, track trends over time, and compare actual performance against established DoD logistics response-time goals.

LMARS/CWT operates within the DLA Transaction Services (DAAS) application suite, which also includes DAASINQ (address/identification code lookups), DAMES, and WEBSDR (supply discrepancy reporting). It is fed by MILSTRIP and MILSTRAP transaction data and is referenced alongside the Logistics Data Gateway (LDG) in DLA's broader logistics-reporting environment.
