Move.Mil

Move.mil, the U.S. Transportation Command's public portal for military household-goods moves, has been retired. Its content was consolidated into Military OneSource, and the moving-management application itself — the Defense Personal Property System (DPS), now being succeeded by MilMove under the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) — is reached through dps.move.mil. Service members and DoD civilians use it to schedule and manage Permanent Change of Station (PCS) household-goods shipments.

What it is

Move.mil was the informational front door for the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) — entitlements guidance, moving checklists, and the login gateway into DPS, the system used to schedule household-goods pickup/delivery, track shipments, and file loss-and-damage claims for a PCS move. As of this writing the move.mil domain no longer resolves; USTRANSCOM has moved the public-facing moving information to Military OneSource's PCS and moving section, while the account-based scheduling system remains at dps.move.mil.

Who operates it

The Defense Personal Property Program is run by USTRANSCOM, working with the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy on the Military OneSource-hosted public information. The Global Household Goods Contract, which MilMove supports, is administered under USTRANSCOM.

Access

The information pages (now on Military OneSource) are public. Scheduling, tracking, and managing an actual PCS shipment requires an account in DPS/MilMove, authenticated with a Common Access Card (CAC) or a DPS-issued user ID/password. There is no general public self-service search — access is tied to being a service member, DoD civilian, or authorized dependent with an eligible PCS or separation move.

How logisticians use it

Transportation offices and service members use the DPS/MilMove system to counsel on entitlements, schedule pickup and delivery with a Transportation Service Provider, track in-transit household-goods shipments, and file claims. The 833-MIL-MOVE help desk supports login and access issues across both systems.
