Commercial Asset Visibility – Organic Repairs Module (CAV-ORM) is a Navy inventory-tracking system operated under NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS). Per Defense Logistics Agency DLMS change documentation (ADC 461), CAV-ORM is "the joint Service solution for tracking repairables out for commercial repair" — it records repair status and estimated completion dates for government-owned reparable assets ("carcasses") as they move through the repair cycle, and feeds those updates to Navy ERP.

What it is

CAV-ORM tracks Navy-owned reparable assets through repair. Per DLA DLMS documentation, when CAV-ORM receives an updated estimated completion date (ECD) for an item in repair, it transmits that update to Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (Navy ERP) as a DLMS 947I transaction. A NAVSUP FISC Jacksonville project summary likewise describes CAV-ORM tracking stock-in-transit assets moving between DLA storage and commercial repair sites.

Who operates it

CAV-ORM is hosted by NAVSUP (applications.navsup.navy.mil) and operated under NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support, the same organization that runs the CAV Repairables Portal. DLA DLMS change documentation treats CAV and CAV-ORM as companion systems used by the same trading-partner community of Inventory Control Points.

Access

CAV-ORM is not a public-access tool. The site itself returns a PKI/certificate-based login rather than open content, consistent with how NAVSUP documents access to the companion CAV system: contractors and government users obtain access through a System Authorization Access Request – Navy (SAAR-N), and must have an individual PKI certificate acquired, loaded, and registered before access is granted. NAVSUP WSS assigns each contractor organization a CAV Analyst as its point of contact for system navigation, data-entry instruction, and reporting problems; CAV-ORM issues are handled as Tier 2 items in the NAVSUP help desk ticket process.

How logisticians use it

Inventory managers, repair-facility personnel, and NAVSUP WSS analysts use CAV-ORM to record and monitor the status of reparable items inducted into repair — including receipt, repair progress, updated estimated completion dates, and return to supply — so that Navy ERP and downstream supply systems reflect current carcass location and repair status.

Related systems

CAV-ORM is related to the CAV Repairables Portal (Commercial Asset Visibility). Both systems feed transaction data to Navy ERP and operate within the DLMS/MILSTRAP transaction framework used across DoD supply chain systems for reparable-asset and carcass tracking.
