USAJOBS is the U.S. federal government's official employment website, operated by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). It lists open positions across federal agencies — including logistics, supply chain, and acquisition career series within DoD and other agencies — and lets job seekers search openings, build an applicant profile, and submit applications. It is a general federal HR/careers resource rather than a logistics operations tool.

What it is

USAJOBS (usajobs.gov) is a searchable job board and application portal covering vacancy announcements from essentially every federal agency. Individual agencies (for example, sub-domains like a service branch or DHS component) can present agency-specific views of the same underlying listings, but usajobs.gov is the canonical, government-wide site.

Who operates it

USAJOBS is operated by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the federal government's central HR agency. OPM has run the site since its original 1996 launch and a major relaunch in August 2003, and continues to operate it as "the one-stop source for federal jobs and employment information for the federal government."

Access

Browsing and searching job announcements is fully public and requires no login. Creating a free USAJOBS account (at usajobs.gov) is required to save searches, store resumes, and submit applications to specific vacancy announcements. There is no CAC, SAAR, or agency-provisioning requirement — the account is self-service and open to any member of the public. USAJOBS does not publish a general support phone number; help requests are routed through the web-based contact form at the USAJOBS Help Center, which the site says are answered within one business day.

How logisticians use it

Federal and military logistics professionals use USAJOBS the same way any federal jobseeker does: to find and apply for logistics-series, supply chain, and acquisition-related civilian positions posted by DoD components, defense agencies, and other federal organizations. It is not a logistics operations or reference system — its relevance to this directory is incidental, as a career/hiring resource rather than a tool used in day-to-day logistics work.

History & lineage

USAJOBS was established in 1996 as the federal government's centralized job-posting site and underwent a significant redesign in August 2003 under OPM, expanding features such as job-search sorting, resume storage, and saved application materials. It remains under OPM operation today.
