The Air Force Portal (AF Portal) is the U.S. Air Force's enterprise web portal — effectively the service's worldwide intranet — providing a single authenticated entry point to authoritative information, applications, and collaboration tools for the Air Force community. It is reached at my.af.mil and requires a Common Access Card (CAC) or approved External Certificate Authority (ECA) certificate to sign in.
What it is
The AF Portal aggregates links to authoritative data, web applications, and self-service tools used across the Air Force, so members can find what they need to do their jobs from one place. It is accessible anywhere an internet connection is available (from .com or .mil connections) with a CAC, and hosts single sign-on access to applications such as vMPF, myPay, AFPC Secure, and the Air Force Fitness Management System.
Who operates it
The AF Portal is operated by the Air Force Portal Program Office. Account requests that cannot be completed through self-registration (DD Form 2875) are processed by that office, which is reachable by digitally signed email or fax for form submission.
Access
Registration requires that the user be a U.S. military member, U.S. government civilian, allied-forces member, or a contractor supporting the USAF, and hold a government-issued CAC (or vendor-approved ECA). Most requestors with a CAC and SSN can self-register at the portal's registration page, with the submitted information verified against the Air Force Directory Services (AFDS) database; self-registration is typically available within 48 hours of receiving a CAC. If self-registration fails, a sponsor/supervisor must submit a DD Form 2875 by digitally signed email to the Air Force Portal Program Office (gcssaf.opsandsupport@gunter.af.mil) or by fax. The directory's stored access_type of "public" is misleading — the portal's content and applications require CAC/ECA authentication; this entry should be reclassified to cac_required.
How logisticians use it
Air Force logisticians use the AF Portal as the single sign-on gateway to many logistics and business applications and to authoritative reference information, reaching mission systems and self-service tools through one authenticated front door rather than tracking many separate sites and credentials.
Related systems
The AF Portal links to numerous Air Force logistics, personnel, and pay systems (including vMPF, myPay, and AFPC Secure) as the common front door to service-specific applications; it is not itself a logistics system but the access layer in front of them.
